Etienne Aigner, a Hungarian-born bag designer, achieved his initial breakthrough at the Paris Haute Couture shows in the 1930s. In the 1950s, he exhibited his own collection in New York. For the first time, this collection featured the characteristic A in the shape of a horseshoe; it then traveled to Munich. Etienne Aigner met Heiner H. Rankl, a businessman with a clear vision for the future and a strong sense of tradition. Thus, the cult brand AIGNER was founded in Munich in 1965.
